There are a number of theories regarding the origin of the expression "ticketyboo" (also sometimes spelled "ticketty-boo", tiggity-boo", "tickety-boo") meaning "all in order, satisfactory, as it should be."

It first appeared around 1920-40 It is almost cetainly a relic of the British colonial presence in India.

One of the most accepted and common theories about "ticketyboo" connects to the Hindi expression "tikai babu," meaning "it's all right, sir."

People of an age with who can recall grandparents or relatives who served with the British Army in India will often recall them using the expression.
